A King’s Sorrow
~ 150 x 80 cm
Acrylic on Canvas
This painting is based off a photograph my father took when we were in South Africa (2004-2005 Christmas Break). This lion was in an enclosure (unlike a National Wild Park) and still seemed to be King of his plains. However when painting him, he gained a sadder expression - homesickness. This was a commission from a South African family.
It was painted in Acrylic on Canvas. It’s my biggest painting of wildlife to date and was competed in 2005.
