That’s it! Done, I’m finished. By that I mean I have finally completed the new version of LudwigNZ.com - called “Press”.

This version is running on Expression Engine 1.6 (I love you EE!). I was going to build my own content management system like some people (and in fact had started in Rails, gave up, then almost finished in PHP but gave up because I couldn’t get the lifestream working. At this point I decided to purchase Expression Engine. I’m using FeedGrab and a CRON job to update my lifestream every 15 minutes.

I have 3 feeds, the complete feed (Journal + Lifestream) and then the individual Journal and Lifestream Feeds. Please make use of them :)

The design is heavily influenced by newspaper designs which is why I’m calling it “Press”. I wanted to break the box when it came to designing but also incorporate the grid design techniques which I had grown to love. I feel this is shown well on the Article page (which you’re probably looking at now) as well as the Portfolio page and portfolio item pages. The Lifestream page is meant to influenced by classifieds pages but I’m not quite sure I got that quite right.

This is a slightly rushed blog post because I have to prepare a gift for a friend who’s leaving in 4 days (We’ll miss you Martina!)

Update: Argh~ In all the excitement I completely forgot about IE6/7 and it’s bugs. Ok, I’ll work on those later, as well as a proper blog post about “Press”.
