I twitter, do you?
Ok so I’m making an effort to make my blog more “live” and current. To do this I integrated twitter, a dare I say it, web 2.0 service that allows you to send “twitters” from an IM (I use Google Talk), your cellphone or directly from the website. Over the past few days I’ve sent over 55 twitters, compare this to the 24 blog posts I’ve made on this blog in total.
When blogging I try to blog something decent that may actually be worth reading, compared to those things I send to my “twitter” account. These usually are things like what I’m currently doing, fleeting thoughts, frustrations or ideas that I just want to publish quickly and easily. My “twitters” aren’t meant to be archivable articles like the posts on my blog for instance. Instead they are meant to be ‘active’ until I send a new “twitter.”
If you have twitter then please add me, http://twitter.com.ludwigw , and make sure to follow my updates. Leave a comment and I’ll return the favour. Even though I haven’t got a lot of people following me - a few friends and surprisingly, Snook - it’s a lot of fun. If you haven’t joined yet, go check it out.
So I integrated twitter on my blog by adding what they call a “badge”.
Dusting off the archives
A while I ago I ditched the chronological archives for a set of extended live archives and a nice tag cloud.
When I created the tag cloud I didn’t put much thought into it and had the keywords increase in size every alternate sum of times used (for example used twice, four time, six times etc) and then later increase in size every sum of times used (12 times, 13 times, 14 times etc.) I changed it around.
Since most tags will only appear a few times I made the shorter incremental increases closer to the lower amount of times the tag is used, and the larger gaps between font size increases closer to the higher amounts of times the tags are used. So if a tag is popular it will continue to grow in size but will become less rapid in growth - so as to keep the font-sizes to a appealing size (not overly huge.)
I also see a problem with the Live Archives. It seems unsure of whether it should appear or not. Sometimes it just won’t load and other times it does. I can’t find a fix for this but for now it’s not a big deal. I have the tag cloud for navigation of archives. And if chronological navigation is required pagination is on all? post listing pages.? ?
What about Zak?
Zak will be posting here every now and then but it won’t be frequent. He will have a guest blogger badge so if he does then you won’t miss it
You will find his twitter right below mine on the left so you’d be able to see what he’s up to (or was up to at the time of his last twitter.)
Check out his latest review on Mozilla Firefox 2.
Shout out to Novia
